Fancy Large Amethyst Fob on Gold Chain

A wonderful Victorian piece featuring a double-sided 19 mm diameter faceted amethyst fob. With the two sides put together the fob is approximately 12.5 mm in width. The stone is beautifully faceted with even triangular facets - showing the rich purple color of the stone beautifully. The stone is in good condition, with only a few surface scrathes which in no way detract from the piece when worn. The fob is setting shows nice gold workmanship and a unique design. This setting tests to be 10 kt gold. The piece hangs from a 14 kt gold full snake style chain measuring 17 and 1/4 inches long. The chain is marked "585" for 14 kt gold; however, the clasp appears to have been replaced with a swivel hook style clasp from another necklace. The clasp is not marked and appears to be gold filled. This is a wonderfully unique piece from another era that can be worn and enjoyed for years to come.
