Early Etruscan Filagree Signet Ring
with Carved Citrine Cameo
Size 6
|
This is a fabulous piece of history. In the style of the early Etruscan Period, this gorgeous ring has a bezel set, carved ctrine cuvette (cameo which is carved down into the stone so that the top of the carving sits below the top of the stone). The carving is of a younger roman man's profile. He wears the laurel wreath in on his head, tied with a ribbon in the back. The citrine is also beautifully faceted to glimmer all around the cuvette. The shoulders of the ring are decorated with filigree and granulated gold. The shank of the ring is comprised of two gold bands put together. This ring is very well crafted. The ring is stamped ont he interior "14K". A true one of a kind. Additional scanner pictures below - please note the scanner makes the citrine appear much darker than it really is.
