A signet ring is a carved cameo ring where the cameo lies below the edges of the table face. The cameo is carved down into the material, used in days past to press into wax to seal letters and documents. This signet ring is carved in rich cognac colored translucent amber. The carved amber piece measures 12 mm by 15 mm and is slightly rounded. The carving is of a woman with her hair pulled up and a few loose curls falling down around her neck and face. Her facial features are classic with a long straight nose and stern expression. The cameo is prong set in a white gold setting with intricate gold crafting, combining filigree and press work. The ring is stamped "BELAIS 14K" in the inside of the ring shank. The ring is a size 8 and is in very good condition. Total height from the finger to the top of the ring is approximately 5 mm.
