Portrait of a Mistress - Unset Shell Cameo

This a beautiful cameo with deep relief carving and very nice undercutting, especially near the face and hair, and around the roses. The carving also makes fine use of the varying shell color. The cameo measures 1 and 3/16 by 1 and 8/16 and is signed on the back "Melaz".
